For 5000 years, the ancient land of Egypt has been shaped by one thing more
than any other - the River Nile. 
So for historian Bettany Hughes, this is the journey of a lifetime, as she
sets off on a 900mile adventure up the Nile, from its mouth, to Egypt's
southern border.  With the use of a timeless Nile cruise boat, Bettany
travels the country, and sees it as the ancient Egyptians once did, from the
great river. Her journey takes in famous pyramids, great temples and new
discoveries, which show that without the Nile, there would have been no
Ancient Egypt.
